Creative Identity

Information

Canterbury Art Studio

Gallery 2

14 - 27 February
The exhibition is the culminating event of studio group sessions based upon art therapy philosophy with people who have experience of mental ill health. Believing that creativity is innate, the emphasis is upon wellbeing and increasing self esteem where use of materials is encouraged in a creative environment without judgement or expectation. The facilitators are artists, some are peers who have lived experience.

Working towards a joint exhibition offers purpose and the opportunity to develop a creative identity which people can take with them beyond the experience of the projects. The exhibition venue is important in that a professional, well respected gallery at the heart of the community reflects acceptance, inclusion and challenges stigma.

Please come and visit the exhibition, meet the artists and offer them constructive feedback in person or in writing.
